You have the answer, too much suds. Also not strong enough.

Dishwasher detergent is a much stronger alkali than hand soap. Also

contains bleach. ( look at the label )

As for the cola ( or other soft drink ) it is the phosphoric acid, not the

carbonation that does the cleaning.

Don't ever use hand soap / dish detergent in a dishwasher!

Trust me I tried it. I figured that 1 ml wouldn't hurt anything. Needless

floor.
Save yourself a headache & do them by hand. If you have stubborn caked on
food, let them sit in a hot sink with sudsy water for about an hour.
Everything should come off easily.
HINT: for pots that have stuck on food, pour some cola into the pot & let
sit overnight. The carbonation in the cola works the food out. Then all
you need to do is wash as normal.

No. It will make a big mess. Dishwasher soaps are suds free.

Better off washing the dishes in the sink if all you have is hand or dish

No. Hands soap will probably produce too much suds and cause

the dish washer to leak. Besides, you may be able to taste the residue

left on the dishes. Many hand soaps contain some sort of skin softener.

Such as lanolin. And they don't taste good.

No. Hand dish soap is made to foam a lot. Dishwasher fluid
